FIREFLIES

We are a community of cyclists focused on the creative industries. Our mission is to raise funds for cancer research and provide support to those affected by this devastating disease, including individuals who have been diagnosed, as well as their friends and family.

For over 16 years we have organized an annual charity bike ride to raise funds for cancer research and created a community of riders to give the support and encouragement for the riders who want to try and ride over 600 miles in a week.

We believe that with sufficient training, personal commitment, and a positive spirit, anyone can complete a 600-mile bike ride over seven days and raise thousands of dollars. We have helped hundreds of aspiring cyclists accomplish this challenging feat.

Every year, we assemble a ‘team’ of returning riders and new recruits. This year over 50 hand picked riders will return the roots of the “Westie” ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for The City of Hope.

To help us select the perfect balance of riders we invite all those interested in riding with us and can commit to training extensively for at least 6 months and raise thousands of dollars for The City of Hope to apply for a ‘saddle’, which is our unique and traditional term for a spot on our annual ride.

We invite all supporters past and future to join the Fireflies for an informal gathering at Zinque Venice on March 19th at 5pm. It’s our way of reconnecting with our LA roots and invite you to help us create an even stronger connection and impact in our community.

Having recently lost some incredible Fireflies and with all that our city and industry has experienced as of late, the time is right for us all to support one another. If you want to meet those you’ve supported with donations, learn about what it takes to do the ride, encourage a co-worker or loved one to get on a bike this year, or just come for cocktails with some great people and find out how you can support the cause in other ways, we’d love you to join us for the launch party of the 2025 Tour and the official call for saddles for our 17th incredible year!

Raising hope and money

Each rider is self funded, they pay for everything themselves so every dollar donated goes directly to City of Hope. Since we began our annual ride, we have partnered with City of Hope. We chose them because of their cancer research-based approach, which aims to reduce the gap between laboratory discoveries and treatment. City of Hope also provides support to a diverse community of cancer patients, as well as their friends and family.
